Reisinformatie: Bosnia and Herzegovina

Previously part of Yugoslavia, this mountainous Balkan country was traditionally admired for centuries-long harmonious religious diversity.

This came to an end with the 1992-95 civil war and the Dayton Peace Accord separated the six Yugoslav states, halting the conflict and bringing independence. Bosnia and Herzegovina is still haunted by the aftermath of these difficult times with high unemployment and continuing ethnic strife, but the country is beautiful and efforts to bring back the tourists are increasingly successful.
