Reisinformatie: Ukraine
The heartland steppes of Ukraine, once called the breadbasket of the Soviet Union for their fertility, are edged in the west by the Carpathian Mountains and in the south by Crimea, the Black and Azov Seas and the Danube Delta.
Independence in 1991 introduced democracy, which was reinforced five years later by the new Constitution of Ukraine, followed by 2004’s Orange Revolution. With more than 20 million tourists each year, Ukraine is the eighth most popular destination in the world. Beautiful, ancient cities, fine wines, world-class resorts and magnificent landscapes will delight any visitor to the varied ethnic cultures of this vast ‘patchwork nation’.
